Concert Season - 2012/2013
In the Human Voice Series we shall present major and well-known vocal works, such as Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, two odes for St. Cecilia's Day, one by Handel, one by Purcell and Beethovens Mass. Alongside we shall present works that are less frequently played, e. g. the Concerto for Coloratura Soprano by Russian composer Reinhold Glière, Les Nuits d'Ete by Hector Berlioz, Vivaldi's "Laudate Pueri", Handel's "Gloria", etc. Musical works thematically or stylistically tied to these will complement the programs of the individual concerts. This series will feature first class soloists and choirs from Israel and abroad.
In addition to familiar highlights of the piano repertoire, the White Keys Black Keys Series will feature piano concerti by Nino Rota and Zvi Avni, never before performed on an Israeli stage. With us will play the international award-winning Georgia-born pianists Alexander Korsantia and Alexander Toradze and Israeli Daniel Gortler.
The Peoples' Voices Series will bring us closer to North American music, through the works of Bernstein, Gershwin, Copland and Barber, to the classical and traditional music of Armenia, with the participation of distinguished conductor Aram Gharabekian and excellent mezzo soprano Anna Mayilyan; and the music of Brecht/ Weill and of other composers of their time and age.
For the third year in a row we offer children and parents the Bridging the "Music through Generations Series", consisting of four concerts: Journey in Rhythm (percussion-centered music from different lands), children's songs, famous musical stories and music from children's films and plays.
